Sarcasm-hime

...postponed yet again.

I had a giant custom order that ate up my entire fall, so I was set back quite a bit.  And then I decided I wanted to make Moondragon for Costume-Con.....so have had to face facts that Garuda isn't going to happen for Anime North.  Sigh.  I really need to get her done this year, so for Otakuthon or FanExpo I guess.  I know I said that last year, but THIS YEAR FOR SURE.  Argh.

I'll miss seeing everybody, but a good friend is getting married tomorrow.  

I need to get working on Garuda, but a bunch of custom orders have just come in so it might not happen for Otakuthon. I'm thinking of going to NYCC maybe, so that's a possibility.

So there's no way I'll get Garuda done in time for AN; just not enough time.  I guess I'll aim for Polaris, Otakuthon or FanExpo.

Costume-Con was super fun, although the historical masquerade was surprisingly tiny!  I guess it was lucky for us as we won Best in Show with our butterfly dresses!  Sadly I was so brain-dead by Sunday night that I completely forgot about the tours on Monday!  

Now I'm busting my butt making kanzashi for Anime North; I'll probably just wear Fluffybutt, my new loli and maybe a kimono.  Yuki-onna is for the fashion show on Sunday.

So I got fluffybutt (aka Nomiya Maki) done, just barely in time (was embroidering on the train) although there are some tweaks I want to do before I wear her again.  And I was missing a few accessories.  Of course nobody knew because nobody is ever going to know what that costume is from. LOL

Now I have custom orders to do, lots of kanzashi to make (gotta build my stock back up!) and need to get embroidery supplies for Yuki-onna.  I can't wait for the kimono I bought to arrive so I can start  making the sheer overlayer and the underkimono!

...and of course still have Garuda to work on.  I've been putting her off because I have to sand the foam, and it's going to be messy and annoying to do indoors.  But just gotta do it...

I've been utterly swamped with custom orders since summer, so have had no time at all to work on my own stuff.

But after languishing in a corner for months, the cut-out pieces of foam for Garuda's giant head are now glued together and being carved.  So much work, and it's still daunting, but at least I'm moving forward now!

For Costume-Con I've decided to do something super fancy for the Single Pattern contest, not so much because of the contest itself, but because it gives me an excuse to make a costume I've always wanted to do. ;D
